Privacy policy

1. Controller

Talksy is operated by an individual developer in the United Kingdom. Contact: support@talksy.gg

2. What we process

You don't create a password with us: the bot works from your Discord identity, and the dashboard signs you in with Discord. We process:

  • Discord identifiers: your user ID, username and avatar, and the IDs of the servers, channels and messages Talksy works with.
  • Settings: the language you chose in each server, stealth mode, and server configuration such as translated channels, routes and glossary terms.
  • Message content: the text of messages Talksy translates and their translations. They are stored for 30 days, so replies, mirrored channels and your translation history show the right translation, then deleted automatically.
  • Usage counts: how many translations you have used this month, to apply the free plan's limits.
  • Activity records: events such as a translation or a command being used, and errors. Daily totals without personal data are kept to measure usage over time.
  • Dashboard sign-in: when you sign in at app.talksy.gg, Discord shares your email address and the list of servers you are in, so we can show the ones you manage.
  • Subscription status: your plan and subscription status if you subscribe. Payment details are handled directly by Stripe; we never see your full card details.
  • Support requests you send us on Discord or by email.

We do not store IP addresses or device/User-Agent information ourselves.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • Provide the Service (Discord bot features, dashboard). Legal basis: performance of the contract (use of the bot).
  • Payment / invoicing. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation (accounting).
  • Technical operation, security, abuse prevention (logs, rate limits, free-plan limits). Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Service improvement (fixing errors, usage statistics). Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Website statistics (Google Analytics: which pages of www.talksy.gg are visited), only if you accept analytics cookies. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time under “Cookie settings” in the footer.
  • User requests (support / deletion). Legal basis: legitimate interest / legal obligation.

We do not send marketing emails. If this changes, we will update this Policy and ask for consent where required.

4. Cookies

Our websites use these cookies:

  • Sign-in session cookie (Discord sign-in on app.talksy.gg): up to 30 days.
  • Language cookie remembering the language you view www.talksy.gg in.
  • Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) on www.talksy.gg, set only after you accept them in the cookie banner, to count visits and page views: up to 2 years. Declining or withdrawing consent stops them.

We use no advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

5. Processors and recipients

We use providers to operate the Service:

  • Hosting / infrastructure: Vercel (websites) and Amazon Web Services (the bot).
  • Database: MongoDB Atlas, hosted in the EU (Ireland). This is where Talksy stores your settings, usage counts and message text.
  • Payment: Stripe.
  • Platform integration: Discord.
  • Translation: our AI translation provider.
  • Website statistics: Google Analytics.

We do not sell your data or use it to train AI models.

6. International transfers

Our database is in the EU, but some providers process data outside the UK/EEA: for example our AI translation provider (which receives the text being translated), Discord, Stripe, Vercel and Google. These transfers rely on UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards. We minimise the data sent (mainly identifiers and the text being translated).

7. Retention

  • Discord IDs, settings & usage counts: kept while you use the Service (deleted on request).
  • Message text and translations: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Activity records: 30 days; error records 90 days. Records of Talksy being added to or removed from a server, configuration changes and subscription events are kept while the Service runs.
  • Technical logs: 12 months.
  • Payment / invoices: retained by Stripe and for legal accounting periods.
  • Support tickets: deleted after resolution.

8. Security

We apply reasonable measures: restricted staff access, TLS encryption in transit, provider-level encryption at rest, monitoring and backups. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you may request access, rectification, deletion, restriction, portability or object to processing by emailing support@talksy.gg or contacting us on Discord. We answer within one month and may verify identity via the Discord account or email.

10. Children

The Service is intended for users who meet Discord's minimum age requirements (13+ or higher depending on location). We do not knowingly process data of users below this threshold.

11. Complaints

You can lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority (Information Commissioner's Office) at ico.org.uk.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy. The latest version is posted on our website. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
