Frequently asked questions
How do I add Talksy to my Discord server?
Click Add Talksy to Discord, pick your server and keep the permissions it asks for. Talksy needs Manage Webhooks to post translations under each member's name and avatar, and Manage Messages for stealth mode.
How do I turn on auto-translation?
- Add Talksy to your server.
- An admin clicks ⚡ Set up on Talksy's welcome message and picks the channels to translate, or runs
/server enablethen/server channel add channel:#general. - Members who want their messages translated run
/talksy language:spanish. It's opt-in, and set per server.
Anyone can also translate a single message by reacting with a flag emoji, with no setup and no account.
Why isn't Talksy translating my messages?
Talksy only translates a message when all of these are true:
- Talksy is turned on for the server (
/server enable). - The channel has been added (
/server channel add). - You've chosen a language in this server with
/talksy. Setting it in another server doesn't carry over. - Talksy can manage webhooks in that channel.
- You haven't used up this month's free translations.
Still stuck? Read why Discord isn't translating or the troubleshooting guide, or ask us on Discord.
What are the free limits, and when do they reset?
Every member gets, each month: 100 automatic translations of their own messages, 100 translations with /translate or right-click, and 50 flag-reaction translations. Counters reset on the 1st of the month, and voting for Talksy with /checkvote resets yours straight away. Each server also gets one channel route free, with 200 routed messages a month.
What does Talksy Pro cover?
Talksy Pro costs €8.99 a month or €86.30 a year. It removes your personal limits in every server you're in. In the servers you sponsor, every member is unlimited too, with unlimited channel routes and channel groups, no monthly message cap, and an unlimited glossary of terms Talksy never translates. See pricing for the details.
How do channel routes work?
A route mirrors one channel into another, translated. This command reposts every message from #general in Spanish in #general-es, under the original author's name:
/server route add source:#general target:#general-es language:spanishDeletes, replies and reactions follow along, and forum channels work post by post. One route is free per server, with 200 routed messages a month; Pro adds unlimited routes and channel groups, where several channels each speak their own language.
What does Talksy keep about my messages?
Talksy stores the text of translated messages and their translations for 30 days, so replies can quote the right translation, then deletes them automatically. It keeps your settings and monthly usage counts, and usage events for 30 days (errors for 90). Nothing is sold or used to train AI models. The privacy policy has the full list.
What makes Talksy different from other translation bots?
Translations appear in the channel as the person who wrote them, with their name and avatar, instead of in DMs or as bot replies. The conversation reads like people talking, in 100+ languages.
