Delivery: as the speaker, or as the bot
Talksy posts each translation through a webhook, under the original member's name and avatar with a small language flag. The channel reads like one conversation in which everyone happens to write in two languages.
In Talksy, John wrote in English and opted in to Spanish:
Hello everyone!
¡Hola a todos!
TranslateBot posts translations in the same channel too, so nothing goes to DMs. The difference is who appears to be speaking: each translation is a message from the bot, so a busy channel alternates between people and the bot.
Pricing: subscription or character packs
Which is cheaper depends on volume. A server that translates a few messages a week can run for a long time on one pack. A busy multilingual server uses characters quickly, especially when messages go into more than one language, and a flat monthly price is easier to predict.
Setup
Add Talksy, then an admin clicks ⚡ Set up on its welcome message (or runs /server enable and /server channel add). Members who want their messages translated run /talksy with their language. Flag reactions work for everyone from the start.
TranslateBot also works with flag reactions from the start, and has a text command for one-off translations. An admin configures linked channels for mirroring.
Which bot should you choose?
Choose Talksy if you want:
- Translations that read as the person, not the bot
- A free tier that renews every month instead of a one-time trial
- A flat, predictable price for an active server
- Channel routes that keep deletes, replies and reactions in sync
- Stealth mode, a per-server glossary, and a different language per server
Choose TranslateBot if:
- You translate occasionally and would rather pay once than subscribe
- You want credit that never expires
- Your community already uses it and it works for you
